AC Accessories & Parts
Keeping cool in Arizona for a major portion of every year means keeping your vehicle’s air conditioning system running in optimal form. While we recommend an annual air conditioning system check, we offer Freon-134 and a leak sealer.
Air Filter
Your automobile’s air filter is composed of fibrous materials which removes solid particulates from the air. This critical piece of your car’s performance system requires careful attention if the engine is to operate at peak performance and deliver maximum fuel efficiency.
The air filter screens out harmful dirt and grime that would otherwise find its way into the engine. This grit can and does cause internal engine wear. It can score cylinder walls and stick to close-tolerance mating surfaces, and cause bearing and lubricating surface wear.
Now that’s a lot of damage just because of a little old air filer. Keep a close eye on your air filter—and head into Cost Less Auto Parts when yours needs replaced. We can help you out!
Batteries & Accessories
Automobile batteries store chemical energy rather than electrical energy. Aside from working as a power source for electric cars and a starter for gasoline cars, the battery also works as an electrical equalizer, meaning that dangerous voltages are absorbed by the battery from the car’s electrical system. This protects the vehicle from being damaged by transient electric charges.
In Tucson, the extreme weather conditions can shorten the life of a battery. What this means is you’re not going anywhere without a properly working battery. Think of Cost Less Auto Parts first when you have battery needs. We’ll get you started. We carry:
- Automotive Batteries
- Battery Cables & Battery Terminals
- Battery Chargers & Maintainers
- Battery Chemicals
- Battery Relays & Battery Switches
- Battery Testers
- Battery Tools
- Battery Vent Tubes
- Commercial Batteries
- Lawn & Garden Batteries
- Marine Batteries
- Motorcycle Batteries
- Repair Manuals
- Solar Battery Chargers
- Wheeled Battery Chargers
Brake Pads/Shoes
Safety comes first and we specialize in keeping you and your family safe. Wear and tear take a toll on each tire’s brakes, so regular inspection and replacement are critical to ensure fast and smooth stops every time and all the time. Our staff are experts in selecting and installing the correct brake shoes and brake pads for your vehicle.
Coolant & Other Fluids
It takes almost as many fluids and chemicals to maintain your automobile as it takes to keep your household. From air conditioning, brake fluids, gear/hydraulic fluids, grease, power-steering fluids, to radiator coolant and transmission fluids, we’ve got you covered.
Coolants are essential to keeping your car happy in this ever-warm, ever-challenging desert climate. Your car operates in a wide variety of temperatures, from well below freezing to well over 100 F (38 C). So whatever fluid is used to cool the engine has to have a very low freezing point, a high boiling point, and it has to have the capacity to hold a lot of heat.
Water is one of the most effective fluids for holding heat, but water freezes at too high a temperature to be used in car engines. Water boils at 120 degrees—water alone will not work under extreme heat either. The fluid that most cars use is a mixture of water and ethylene glycol, also known as antifreeze. With a 50/50 blend of water and ethylene glycol, the boiling and freezing points are improved significantly.
Antifreeze also contains additives to resist corrosion and provides lubricant for the water pump bearings.
Check your fluids periodically—at least once a month. A routine top-off all around is a good practice.
Electrical
A vehicle comprises hundreds of pieces, including electrical components. Mainly powered by the battery, a car’s electrical power system consists of a web of wires and fuses. The electrical wiring carries the current and power supplied by the car battery and directs it to the various electrical components.
Aren’t you glad that you can come into Cost Less Auto Parts where we can help you sort out what you need to get that system back on track? We carry parts and accessories to get you rolling:
- Alternator
- Alternator Spacer
- Battery Current Control System
- Battery Isolator
- Diode
- Solenoid
- Voltage Regulator
Electronics
Automotive electronics can add to a vehicle’s existing system. You can add stereos, DVD players, wi-fi, GPS, view screens, and even game machines to any car. Come talk to us at Cost Less Auto Parts today to learn what is available for your vehicle that meets your wants and needs. If we don’t have it in stock, we can order for you—with ASAP delivery.
Exhaust System
Your car’s exhaust system consists of piping used to guide exhaust gases away from a controlled combustion inside your engine. The entire system conveys burnt gases from the engine and includes one or more exhaust pipes. Depending on the overall system design, exhaust gas may flow through one or more of these parts:
- Cylinder head and exhaust manifold
- A turbocharger to increase engine power
- A catalytic converter to reduce air pollution
- A muffler to reduce noise
Need any of these parts? Come see us at Cost Less Auto Parts today!
Hydraulic Hoses
Your automobile utilizes a number of high-pressure hydraulic hoses to function. A car’s engine is one of the most common types of hydraulic machines, which therefore requires the assembly of a hydraulic hose to properly function. If you have ever run out of fuel on the side of the highway, changed your oil, or paid for gas, you are well aware of the fact that your car requires fluid in order to run. Because it is responsible for distributing oil, gas, and other hydraulic fluids to your car, the high-pressure hydraulic hose ultimately provides the fuel for your car parts to operate.
These hoses, however, are easily damaged due to external factors such as various increases in pressure, temperature, or fluid type, abuse, and improper application, and require periodic replacement or reassembly. When this damage occurs, come see us at Cost Less Auto Parts immediately so we can supply your hydraulic hose needs.
Ignition System
The ignition system on your car works in perfect concert with the rest of the engine. Its goal is to ignite the fuel at exactly the right time so that the expanding gases can do the maximum amount of work. If your ignition system fires at the wrong time, power will fall, and gas consumption and emissions can increase.
Something as sophisticated and involved as your ignition system, of course, has many related parts—including the distributor, distributor caps, rotors, and related parts; glow plugs and related parts; ignition coils and modules and components; ignition wires; magnetic pigtails and connector; points and condensers; relays; sensors; spark plugs; switches; and more.
Confused? Come let Cost Less Auto Parts’ knowledgeable staff help you sort it all out.
Lighting
From headlights to tail-lights to the many bulbs you use for the exterior and interior of your automobile, we can light up your life. We have a complete line of replacement lamps and bulbs to meet all your car lighting needs—dash lights, brake lights, license plate lights, indicator lights, fog lights, and more.
You don’t want to be pulled over for a pa-diddle now, do you?
O2 Sensors
Automotive oxygen sensors—better known as O2 sensors–make modern electronic fuel injection and emission control possible. They help determine, in real time, if the air–fuel ratio of a combustion engine is rich or lean. Since oxygen sensors are located in the exhaust stream, they do not directly measure the air or the fuel entering the engine.
When an O2 sensor fails, you’ll be heading our way to pick up the proper replacement part—we’ll be ready for you!
Routine Oil Change
Your routine oil change is one of the most basic and central maintenance your car deserves for long-term performance and well-being.
Motor oil is used for lubrication of various internal combustion engines. The main function is to lubricate moving parts; it also cleans, inhibits corrosion, improves sealing, and cools the engine by carrying heat away from moving parts. One of the most important properties of motor oil in maintaining a lubricating film between moving parts is its viscosity. The viscosity of a liquid can be thought of as its “thickness” or a measure of its resistance to flow.
Just want to change your car’s oil? Get all of your supplies—oil filters, motor oil, etc. at Cost Less Auto Parts—and pick the brain of one of our ultra-knowledgeable employees on all the when, where, and why of the all-mighty oil change.
Safety Equipment
Cost Less Auto Parts carries a full range of equipment designed to keep your ride safe. We stock air bags if you need yours replaced. Our inventory of head restraints, high intensity rear lights, seat belts, stability control parts and accessories is extensive. If we don’t have what you need in stock, we can order any product for quick delivery.
Serpentine Belts
Serpentine belts are used to drive multiple peripheral devices in an automotive engine, such as an alternator, power-steering pump, water pump, air conditioning compressor, air pump, etc. The belt may also be guided by an idler pulley and/or a belt tensioner (which may be spring-loaded, hydraulic, or manual).
Serpentine belts make the engine go round. Check out Cost Less Auto Parts for all of your serpentine belt needs.
Tools/Equipment
Whether you are a professional mechanic or occasional do-it-yourself amateur, having a fully stocked tool kit makes any job easier. Owning good tools and equipment to work efficiently is more than a time-saver. Ask any mechanic: knowing that the right tool is in your toolbox is a source of great satisfaction.
Towing & Cargo Accessories
Cost Less Auto Parts provides the highest quality commercial-grade towing and cargo accessories products to Tucson’s do-it-yourselfer. We stand behind our products and make sure our customers get the best products at the lowest prices, with minimum delay. Our hooks, receivers, towing balls, pins, winches, and other towing products are made by name brand manufacturers for ease of installation and durability in high-use vehicles.
Transmission Accessories
Cost Less Auto Parts is a leading provider of transmission parts. We specialize in high quality rebuilt parts that meet only the highest standards.
There are manual transmissions and there are automatic transmissions. If you have ever driven a car with an automatic transmission, then you know that there are two big differences between an automatic transmission and a manual transmission:
- There is no clutch pedal in an automatic transmission car.
- There is no gear shift in an automatic transmission car. Once you put the transmission into drive, everything else is automatic.
Both the automatic transmission (plus its torque converter) and a manual transmission (with its clutch) accomplish exactly the same thing, but they do it in totally different ways.
Whether you shift gears manually or your car’s transmission mysteriously shifts on its own, when your transmission needs tweaking, come to Cost Less for the parts and/or accessories that will get you back on the road.
Water Pump
Your automobile’s water pump is a simple centrifugal pump driven by a belt connected to the crankshaft of the engine. The pump circulates fluid whenever the engine is running. The water pump uses centrifugal force to send fluid to the outside while it spins, causing fluid to be drawn from the center continuously. The fluid leaving the pump flows first through the engine block and cylinder head, then into the radiator and finally back to the pump. If your water pump needs replaced, we have a massive stock of water pumps to match your need, including new and remanufactured selections.
Wheel & Tire Repairs
We recommend you check your vehicle’s tires for wear at least once a month, as well as before and after road trips. The tires are the only contact that your car has with the road, so proper maintenance is crucial to driving safely.
We have a selection of wheel and tire repair tools and accessories to maintain tire care—from tire pressure gauges to car jacks and more. We can order your special wheel covers and hubcaps too.
Wipers
Windshield wipers used to be operated manually by moving a lever inside the car back and forth. Today, we take our electric windshield wipers for granted. The wipers faithfully keep the window clear, moving back and forth across the windshield countless times as they sweep the water away.
Here in Tucson, we don’t use our windshield wipers as often as in other climates, but when we need them, we want to make sure they’ll work efficiently. The sun and blazing heat can wear out the wiper blade way before its time. Cost Less Auto Parts keeps a healthy inventory of blades for almost every make and model vehicle on the road—in a variety of qualities as well. Stop on by—we suggest you check your wipers at least every time you change your oil.
